we are a live music venue based in the heart of La Mesa, California (in San Diego County) that hosts a wide variety of local events ranging from concerts, comedy events, art galleries, art installations, & more! Public Square After-Hours is a sister company located inside the popular San Diego based cafe, Public Square: A cafe with the mission to create community and connection through coffee, culture, & cause.

  • Yes! There is lots of street parking (Free after 6pm everyday). There is also a paid parking lot directly behind the venue.

  • Smoking inside the venue is prohibited.

  • Most are All Ages. However, age requirements differ depending on the event. All age requirements are listed on our online event calendar. If no age restriction is listed, the event is all ages.

  • Yes, but you must keep your wristband on as it will be checked whenever you re-enter.

  • Yes, you can book our event venue for your next corporate event, private concert, social gathering, wedding, reception, fundraiser and more. For more information, please Click Here.

  • Items not permitted include, but are not limited to: Weapons of any kind, alcohol, illegal drugs/substances, glass containers, cans, hard sided/large coolers, large or oversized bags/back-packs, laser pointers, animals (except service animals) and fireworks.

  • Professional cameras and/or cameras will detachable lenses are not allowed without a valid media pass. Personal point-and-shoot cameras or cellphones are OK.

General Policies

Ticketing Policies

  • Unless specified otherwise, we are almost always standing room only. There is select bar seating but it is first come first serve.

  • A valid ID is required to attend any age restricted events and to consume alcohol. Accepted forms of identification include state-issued ID or Driver’s License, valid non-expired US Government or Military ID, or an official passport.

    Public Square After-Hours has a very strict underage drinking policy that follows state law, and if you do not have acceptable ID that states your age at 21 or older, you will be considered the same as a minor and will not be able to purchase, consume or possess alcohol in the venue. Violators will be removed from the building without warnings and will not be eligible for a refund.

  • All guests ages 3 and older need a ticket for entry. Please provide ear protection for children.

  • Unless a show cancels or changes time by more than two hours, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Please contact afterhours@publicsquare.coffee for inquiries.

Accessibility Policies

  • The main entrance to the venue is fully accessible. The accessible restrooms are located in the lobby towards the back right of venue.
